Purchase, NY -- The Elmira College Women's Hockey team won in dominating fashion over Manhattanville 3-0 in a nonconference battle Friday evening. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 10-1-1, while the loss drops the Valiants to 4-6-2.
The two teams played a fairly even first period not allowing for offense to get an advantage. EC would strike at the 12:11 mark when
Tori Charron '14 (Goodwood, ONT -- Aurora Panthers) scored off assists from
Haley Welch '15 (East Amherst, NY -- Nichols School) and Kathryn Walker '12 (Edmonds, WA -- Colorado Select). A little less than two minutes later EC would score again with
Arden Cowley '15 (Edmonton, AB -- Warner Hockey School) scoring her first goal of the season. Assisting Cowley on the play were
Cassidy Delainey '15 (Edmonton, AB -- Edmonton Thunder) and
Maddy Charbonneau '14 (Greeley, CO -- Colorado Select). The score would stay 2-0 for the rest of the first period and the entire second period.
In the third stanza the Purple and Gold sealed the game with Charbonneau scoring the goal to put EC up 3-0 and getting assisted by Delainey on the play. Elmira outshot the Valiants 30-18 overall in the contest.
Lauren Sullivan '13 (Toronto, ONT -- Markham-Stouffville Stars) stopped 18 shots in between the pipes for the Soaring Eagles, while Emy Cote made 27 saves for Manhattanville. EC returns to action Wednesday, January 11th when they travel to Clinton, NY to face Hamilton College at 7:00 p.m.
