Scranton, PA – The Elmira College Field Hockey team used one score apiece in each half to spoil host Keystone College's Senior Day Thursday afternoon at the Riverfront Sports Complex. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 5-8, while the loss drops the Giants to 8-9.
Allie Gilbert '16 got the scoring started in the 14th minute when she took a centering feed from classmate

and finished from close range past Giant goalie Nichole Blank. With just less than two minutes left in the half Blank stopped a
Shannon Nelligan '14 penalty stroke attempt to keep the Soaring Eagle lead at just 1-0 at intermission.
With just less than five minutes remaining
McKenna Light '14
tallied her eighth goal of the season, which would prove to be a crucial insurance goal and the eventual game-winner. The junior forward drilled a shot from the top of the circle that beat Keystone goalie Amy Denmon for a 2-0 lead.
The Giants made a late rally as Hope Krolewski scored her team-leading 19th goal of the season with 2:33 to play. However, the Soaring Eagle defense along with tremendous play from goalie
Lauren Thomas '14 held off the Giants for the 2-1 win.
Keystone held a 15-10 advantage in shots in the game, but
Thomas stopped an incredible 12 shots to secure the win for Elmira. Blank made four saves, while Denmon stopped one shot for the Giants.
Light paced EC with four shots on goal, while
Gilbert tallied two attempts on target.
The Elmira College Field Hockey team continues its road trip against Washington and Jefferson on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., before closing out its season Sunday with a home tilt against Stevens Institute of Technology at 1:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center.
