Box Score

Elmira, NY – A Kelsie DeKarski '14 goal just 81 seconds into the contest helped the Elmira College Women's Soccer team earn a 2-0 victory over visiting Daemen College Saturday afternoon on Campus Field in Elmira. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 4-7-1 overall, while the loss drops the Wildcats to 3-7-0.

The Purple and Gold got off to a great start early on as DeKarski tore down the field with the ball looking to score. Her initial shot was stopped by Wildcat goalie Kayla Hampton, but Dekarski got the rebound and nailed it in for a 1-0 lead. The first half proved to be extremely competitive as Daemen actually held a 9-8 shots advantage. However, the Soaring Eagles held a 4-1 corner kick and 6-3 shots on goal advantage.  Elmira took a 1-0 lead into intermission.

Eleven minutes into the second half Emily Kelly '14 fired a shot on goal that was saved and rebounded to Emily Karpinski '14 who finished into the left side of the net for an important insurance mark. Shots on goal were even at five apiece in the second stanza.

DeKarski paced EC with an incredible five out of six shots on target, while Samantha Engel and Alex Amato combined for five shots on goal for the Wildcats. Camilla Greeby '15 made eight big saves in her first shutout win of the season. Hampton stopped nine shots in the loss for Daemen.

The EC Women's Soccer team has a week off before hitting the road next Saturday to take on St. John Fisher College starting at 1:00 p.m.
