Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Women's Hockey team made a huge six-spot jump as it climbed to the No. 1 spot in this week's D3hockey.com Poll released on Monday.

The Soaring Eagles who were ranked seventh last week ascended to the top spot after previous No. 1 Norwich lost over the weekend. Elmira (140 points) earned 10 of the 15 first place votes. ECAC West rival SUNY Plattsburgh sits in the second position (126 points), while Gustavus Adolphus ranks third (120 points).

Norwich dropped from first to fourth, while Middlebury rounds out the top five with 98 points. No. 1 Elmira (7-0-1) squares off with the No. 5 Panthers Friday in the Cardinal-Panther Classic hosted by Middlebury.
