Following a scoreless first period, Elmira had a couple of scoring opportunities in the second. Samantha Curk '13 made a nice backhand pass to Amber Tirri '13 in the slot, only to have her shot denied by Kerri Stuart (26 saves). Midway through the period, Ashton Hogan '15 had her shot stopped by Stuart before she batted the rebound out of the air and off the post. The Soaring Eagles broke through at the 17:38 mark, taking a 1-0 lead. Tanis Lamoureaux '14 sent a puck to the left point where Ella Stewart '14 shot the puck into the top left corner of the net.

Elmira made it a 2-0 game, 5:04 into the third period, when Phoebe Piku '16 passed it out to Tirri who quickly turned and shot the puck just sliding under the pad of Stuart. Amherst answered just 36 seconds later when Tori Salmon scored from the slot after an Elmira turnover in its own end. The Soaring Eagles regained a two-goal lead only 21 seconds later when Brooke Wilgosh '15 scored with a shot from the right point through traffic. The lead grew to 4-1, at 12:12, when Hogan carried the puck through both zones before snapping in a shot off the crossbar from the right wing. Elmira scored twice during a 15 seconds span late in the third period to seal the win. Elmira ended the game with a 32-28 shot advantage, with Lisa Marshall '14 making 27 saves to earn the win.
