Women’s Hockey Downs Cortland 4-0 in Conference Play

Pine Valley, NY – The EC Women's Ice Hockey team downed the Cortland State University Red Dragons, 4-0, Saturday afternoon in the Murray Athletic Center. With the win the Soaring Eagles get their first conference win of the season and improve to 2-0-1 overall, while the Red Dragons fall to 0-1-0 in ECAC West action and 0-3-0 overall.
 
The beginning of the game was controlled by the Soaring Eagles who outshot the Red Dragons 12-3. EC was able to get on the board at the 18:19 mark when Cassidy Delainey '15 passed it across to Audrey Juneau '16 who one timed it on the far side passed Cortland goalie Deanna Meunier.

In the second period at the 13:34 mark EC extended its lead to 2-0 when Katie Gaskin '14 passed it up to Ashton Hogan '15 who put it past Meunier for the score.

EC went back to work in the third period and extended its lead at the 4:49 mark when Brooke Wilgosh '15 passed it out to Olivia Nystrom '16 who took a slap shot to Meunier's weak side for the score. The Soaring Eagles continued to dominate making its final score at the 12 minute mark when Tanis Lamoureux '14 converted on the goal with Wilgosh and Nystrom.    

Lauren Sullivan '13 finished the game in net for EC recording seven saves, while Meunier finished the game in net for Cortland recording 39 saves. Both teams will return to action tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center.
