Women’s Hockey Edges Knights in 1-0 Conference Victory

Box Score
Aston, PA – The EC Women's Ice Hockey team would only need an early score in the first period to prevail over Neumann University Saturday evening at Ice Works Arena. With the win the fifth-ranked Soaring Eagles improve to 9-1-1 overall and 7-0-0 in ECAC West action, while the Knights fall to 2-5-1 overall and 2-3-0 in conference play.

The Soaring Eagles would dominate the Knights early in the first period to score at the 5:48 minute mark when Mary-Kate Gellerman '13 fired home the game winner with Olivia Nystrom '16 and Audrey Juneau '16 assisting on the play. Although the Purple and Gold outshot the Knights 38-9, this would be the only score for the rest of the game ending in a 1-0 victory.

Lauren Sullivan '13 earned the win for EC making 9 saves on the night, while Shannon Donnelly played extremely well for Neumann making 37 saves in the game.

The Soaring Eagles will return to the ice tomorrow against the Knights at Ice Works Arena starting at 3:00 p.m.
