Women's Hockey Dismantles Williams in 6-0 Victory

Williamstown, MA – The EC Women's Hockey team dominated in the first and second periods to prevail 6-0 over Williams College in Williamstown. The third-ranked Soaring Eagles improve to 11-1-1 overall, while the Ephs fall to 4-3-0 overall.
 
Caitlin Metcalf '13 registered the first goal of the game and the game winner at the 10:24 mark of the first period with Samantha Curk '13 and Ashton Hogan '15 recording assists on the play. Less than one minute later the Soaring Eagles stretched its lead when Katie Gaskin '14 passed it up to Taylor Steadman '16 who put it in the back of the net.
 
21 seconds into the second period Metcalf registered her second goal of the game with Curk assisting on the play. About three minutes later EC extended its lead when Lindsay Burrows '15 recorded her first goal of the game, while Curk and Metcalf assisted on the goal. At the 9:32 mark Elmira broke out again for another score when Erin Weston '15 crossed it to Amber Tirri '13 who passed it out to Audrey Juneau '16 who one-timed it home for the 5-0 lead.
 
In the final period of play Burrows came through at the 18:33 mark to register her second goal and secure the game for the Soaring Eagles. Tanis Lamoureux '14 was credited with the assist on the play. Lauren Sullivan '13 played in net for EC recording 18 stops and her fifth shutout of the year, while Chloe Billadeau played in net for Williams recording 34 stops.
 
The EC Women's Hockey team will not return to action until Friday, January 4 and Saturday, January 5 when it hosts eight-ranked Manhattanville College and Hamilton College. Friday's game against Manhattanville will start at 3:00 p.m., while Saturday's game against Hamilton will start at 7:00 p.m.
