Strale Scores Lone Goal as Men’s Hockey Falls to Hobart

Geneva, NY – Jesper Strale '14 registered the only goal of the evening for the EC Men's Hockey team as it fell, 4-1, to Hobart College Friday evening in Geneva. The fifth-ranked Statesmen improve to 15-2-2 overall and 7-1-1 in ECAC West action, while the Soaring Eagles fall to 8-11-0 overall and 3-6-0 in conference play.   

In the first period the game was very even with Hobart barely outshooting EC 13-12 and both teams playing strong. The first score of the game came at the 2:32 mark of the second period when Tommaso Traversa found the back of the net for Hobart with Tommy Fiorentino and Harry Radovich assisting on the play. The Statesmen took a 2-0 lead at the 6:50 mark of the same period on a power play when Brad Richard put it past EC goaltender Ryan deMelo '15. At the 13:32 mark EC got its only score of the night when Eric David '15 crossed it over to Brian Depp '16 who passed it up to Strale for the goal.

The game remained at 2-1 until the11:28 mark when the combo of Traversa, Fiorentino and Radovich extended the Hobart lead. With 28 seconds left in the game the Statesmen sealed the deal with Mac Olsen scoring an empty netter to make it 4-1.

deMelo played in net for EC making a career high of 40 saves, while Nick Broadwater played in between the pipes for Hobart making 24 stops. The EC Men's Hockey team will return to action tomorrow night when it hosts Hobart College at the Murray Athletic Center in ECAC West action. Puck set to drop at 7:00 p.m.
