Buffalo, NY –The EC Women's Ice Hockey team struggled to find its rhythm offensively, but came through in overtime beating Buffalo State College 3-2 on Friday evening in Buffalo. The third-ranked Soaring Eagles improve to 16-3-1 overall and 11-2-0 in ECAC West action, while the Bengals fall to 5-12-1 overall and 2-7-0 in conference play.
In the first period the game was scoreless with EC dominating in shots 10-2, but not being able to convert on a goal. Nothing would be able to get through until the 2:54 mark of the second period when

Cassidy Delainey '15 for the 1-0 EC lead. The Bengals were able to tie it up at the 5:20 mark of the same period when Courtney Carnes passed it up to Jeyna Minnick for the score. After about seven more minutes of play the Soaring Eagles were able to regain the lead with
Ella Stewart '14 assisting
Ashley Ryan '15 for the score.
The score remained 2-1 for the rest of the second period and most of the third period, but the Bengals did not quit eventually finding the tying goal at the 15:04 mark with Rio Flynn scoring and Lauren Mallo assisting on the play. In overtime the Soaring Eagles were able to take it to the Bengals early and score the game winning goal 44 seconds on a power play.
Ryan registered her second score of the night with
Tanis Lamoureux '14 assisting on the goal.
Lauren Sullivan '13 played all game in net for EC recording seven saves, while Jordan Lee played a great game between the pipes for Buffalo State recording 31 saves.
Both teams will return to the ice tomorrow in another conference battle starting at 3:00 p.m.
