Buffalo, NY –The EC Women's Ice Hockey team had six different members score a goal in a 6-0 conference victory over Buffalo State College Saturday afternoon in Buffalo. This is Elmira's tenth shutout of the year and with the win they improve to 17-3-1 overall and 12-2-0 in ECAC West action, while the Bengals fall to 5-13-1 overall and 2-8-0 in conference play.
The Soaring Eagles were able to get on the board early and maintain the lead. At the 5:02 mark of the first period
Caitlin Metcalf '13 registered the game winner and first goal of the game with
Ashton Hogan '15 and
Samantha Curk '13 assisting on the goal. At the 14:30 mark EC extended its lead to 2-0 when
Curk broke through for a score with
Audrey Juneau '16 and
Ella Stewart '14 assisting on the play

At the 6:12 mark of the second period
Madison Johnston '13 passed it up to
Taylor Steadman '16 for another goal. At the 8:58 mark on an EC power play
Cassidy Delainey '15 found the back of the net with
Ashley Ryan '15 and
Mary-Kate Gellerman '13 helping out on the play. Less than two minutes later
Tanis Lamoureux '14 came through for a score while
Ryan and
Lindsay Burrows '15 assisting. The final score of the game came at the 16:51 mark of the period when
Ryan put it into the back of the net with
Lamoureux and
Amber Tirri '13 aiding on the play.
Although the Soaring Eagles would not be able to score in the final period, but they continued to control the puck and outshoot the Bengals 10-3 in the period.
Lisa Marshall '14 earned another shutout in between the pipes for the Soaring Eagles making six stops. Jordan Lee started in net for the Bengals making 17 stops, while Sarah Quigley finished the game making 16 stops.
The EC Women's Hockey team will return to action Saturday, February 2nd when they host Stevenson University at the Murray Athletic Center on Athletic Alumni Weekend. Game is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
