Fredonia, NY --
The Elmria College women's soccer team could not muster up much offense as they were shutout 5-0 by Fredonia State on the road Tuesday evening. The loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 3-5-1 on the year while the win improves the Blue Devils to 2-5-2. Amanda Banner '17 faced pressure all day as Fredonia outshot EC 19-7. Banner made eight saves in the losing effort.

Fredonia State got on the scoreboard first as Kristie Kleine scored the first of her two first half goals five minutes into the game. The Blue Devils would add two additional goals on top of Kleine's pair and take a 4-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was much improved for the Soaring Eagles as they settled down and adjusted to the speed of the game, but it was too little, too late for the Purple and Gold. They were able hold the Blue Devils to one goal in the second half, but they could not produce any offense themselves as they came up empty on their three corner kicks and their three shots in the final 45 minutes.

Elmira will try to bounce back on Saturday, October 5th when they host conference rival, St. John Fisher College at Campus Field for their annual Kick It To Cancer game. The team will be wearing pink jerseys and all fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the fight against breast cancer. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
