Pine Valley, NY -- The Elmira College field hockey team (3-9, 1-5 E8) fell to Empire 8 Conference foe Utica College (11-3, 5-1 E8), 3-2. Alli Gilbert '16 scored two goals while Lauren Thomas '14 made 11 saves in today's action. Today's contest marked the final home conference matchup for the Class of 2014.
 
The Soaring Eagles got onto the board first when McKenna Light '14 put a long pass across to Gilbert who put the ball in the back of the cage just three minutes into the game. Utica answered back 10 minutes later to tie the game up at 1-1. Gilbert scored her second goal of the game off a long pass from Caitlin Sickau '16 to put the Purple and Gold back into the lead. Going into the second half the Pioneers tied the game up a minute and 46 seconds into the half, and would go on to net the game-winning goal in the 60^th minute of the game.
 
 
Elmira will have little time to rest as they host Cedar Crest College this Monday, October 21^st at 4:00 p.m.
