Oneonta, NY -- The Elmira College field hockey team (1-7, 0-4 E8) fell on the road this afternoon to the Hawks of Hartwick College (3-7, 1-3 E8), 2-1. EC's
McKenna Light '14 scored the game's opening goal to give Elmira an early 1-0 advantage but it would be short-lived as the Hawks scored goals in both halves to claim the victory.
Elmira took an early lead in today's game as Light registered her third goal of the year at the 19:15 mark of the first half. Light's goal came on a long shot from the left side of the field which would beat Hartwick goalie Shannon Carter for the score.
With less than five minutes to go in the first half, Hartwick would tie things up on a goal from Amanda Coppolo. The Hawks would then go on to score another goal at the 52:09 mark in the second half which would eventually hold up as the game winner.

Lauren Thomas '14 made five saves in today's game. She now has 89 saves on the season.
The Soaring Eagles will look to bounce back this Wednesday, October 9th when EC hosts Wells College in a non-conference matchup. Game-time is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center in Pine Valley, NY.
