Hoboken, NJ --
The Elmira College women's soccer team nearly ruined senior day for Stevens Tech, but the Ducks prevailed, defeating the Soaring Eagles 2-1 Saturday afternoon. Janine Swanson '16 scored EC's only goal in her final game in the Purple and Gold.

The Ducks struck first in the opening half as Amanda Banner '17 mishandled a shot by Raba Nassif and could not regain possession as the ball crossed the goal line. EC nearly tied the game just minutes later, but the shot by Caitlyn Criscuolo '14 hit the post and ricocheted away from the net, keeping the deficit at one. Stevens would take advantage of Elmira's bad luck and stretch the lead to two in the 19th minute and the Ducks took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Soaring Eagles kept Stevens scoreless in the second half as they attempted to make a comeback, but the two-goal deficit proved to be too much to conquer. Swanson chipped into the lead with a beautiful, 40-yard strike off a free kick but that was as far as the Purple and Gold would get as the Stevens defense locked down over the final 20-plus minutes to hold on for the 2-1 win.

Today marks the end of the 2013 season for the Soaring Eagles and the final game for the five Class of 2014 members.
