Geneva, NY – The EC Men's Hockey team dropped its regular season finale contest, 6-1, to No. 6 Hobart College Saturday evening in Geneva. The Statesmen improve to 19-4-2 overall and 11-3-1 in ECAC West action, while the Soaring Eagles fall to 10-15-0 overall and 5-10-0 in conference play.
The Soaring Eagles were able to get on the board early with

Andrew Ciampichini '15 43 seconds into the game. However, the Statesmen responded with four straight goals and dominate the rest of the game. Frank Salituro registered the game tying goal at the 2:16 mark. Ben Gamache registered the go ahead goal at the 7:12 mark of the first period, while Cam Miller registered the Statesmen's third and fourth goals at the 8:34 and 17:11 marks.
In the second period of play the Soaring Eagles were able to step up outshooting the Statesmen 11-7, but neither team could find the goal as the score remained 4-1 in favor of the Statesmen.
The game continued to be a dual until the 17:42 mark when Hobart stretched out the lead to 5-1 with Terrence O'Neill scoring the game's second shorthanded goal. The Statesmen secured the game with a final score at the 19:21 mark on a power play by Ryan Corcoran.
Matt Milne '14 and
Ryan deMelo '15 split time in between the pipes for EC.
Milne played the first 20 minutes for EC making 10 saves, while
deMelo played the final 40 minutes making 17 saves.
This will conclude the regular season for the EC Men's Hockey Team. Now the team will look forward to the ECAC West Conference Playoffs starting next Wednesday, February 20th.
