Box Score Aston, PA – The EC Men's Hockey team struggled to find its offensive rhythm as it fell to Neumann University 6-2 Friday evening at Ice Works Arena. The Knights improve to 13-6-3 overall and 5-6-1 in ECAC West action, while the Soaring Eagles fall to 10-13-0 overall and 5-8-0 in conference play.
In the beginning the Soaring Eagles were able to get on the board first with a goal 3:52 into the game from
Carter Shinkarunk '16 while
D'Arcy Oakes '13 and
Josh Burnell '15 assisted on the goal. However, the Knights dominated the rest of the period outscoring the Soaring Eagles 4-1 to break open the game.
EC would narrow down the lead to 4-2 with the only score in the second period at the 1:02 mark.
Joe Gagne '14 passed it up to
Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 who found
Colin Hoey '13 for the score.
In the final period Neumann put the pressure back on EC and extended its lead to 6-2 with two more scores to end the game.
Ryan deMelo '15 played in net for EC recording 23 saves, while Braely Torris earned the win for Neumann registering 27 saves.
The EC Men's Hockey team will return to action tomorrow when it travels to Stamford, CT to take on No. 13 Manhattanville College starting at 7:00 p.m.
