Women’s Hockey Downs Oswego for 20th Win of Season

Oswego, NY – The EC Women's Ice Hockey team downed the Oswego State University Lakers, 6-0, Saturday afternoon in Oswego. With the win EC improves to 20-3-1 overall and 14-2-0 in ECAC West action, while the Lakers fall to 10-10-1 and 8-5-0 in conference play.  
 
EC controlled the tempo of the game from the start outshooting the Lakers 61-9 and converting on 3-8 power play opportunities. The first score of the game came at the 13:13 mark when Ashton Hogan '15 found Cassidy Delainey '15 for the score. EC stretched the lead to 2-0 at the 16:43 mark when Ashley Ryan '15 passed it up to Delainey who passed it across to Madison Johnston '13 for the score.
 
 In the second period at the 11:09 mark EC extended its lead on a power play opportunity when Olivia Nystrom '16 put it into the back of the net. Less than two minutes later Caitlin Metcalf '13 found Hogan for the goal.  
 
44 seconds into the final period on a power play Delainey passed it across to Tanis Lamoureux '14 for the goal and 5-0 lead. At the 13:27 mark of the period Mary Kate Gellerman '13 put it into the back of the net to secure the game at 6-0. Nystrom and Johnston helped out on the play.
  
Lauren Sullivan '13 earned another shutout on the season for the Soaring Eagles recording nine saves in the game. Bridget Smith played in net for the Lakers making 55 stops in the loss.
 
The EC Women's Hockey team will return to action next Saturday, February 16 when it hosts No. 6 Middlebury College at the Murray Athletic Center. Game is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
