Pine Valley, NY --
The Elmira College field hockey team (1-5, 0-3 E8) dominated possession of the ball, holding the ball for almost 43 minutes, but could not find the back of the cage as they fell to visiting St. John Fisher College (5-4, 1-1 E8) 3-0. Lauren Thomas '14 made nine saves in goal for the Soaring Eagles.

On paper, the first half seemed to completely favor the Cardinals as they outshot EC 12-0, with eight of those being on net, however, on the field, the play was much more even. The game was scoreless for much of the first half, but St. John Fisher changed that with a goal in the 29th minute. The 1-0 lead would hold until halftime.

The Soaring Eagles would try to get the equalizer early in the second half as they put five shots on net in the first six minutes of play, but each of those shots were turned away by the Fisher keeper. The Cardinals would help out their goalie by scoring their second goal of the afternoon just minutes after her flurry of saves. St. John Fisher would tack on one more in the 62nd minute, giving them the final three-goal cushion.

Elmira will look to rebound from today's loss on Tuesday, October 1st when they travel to Oswego State for a non-conference matchup. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
