Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's ice hockey team hits the road for a non-conference game at Stevenson University on Saturday. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
First Win vs. Ranked Opponent
Last Friday's 3-1 victory over No. 4 Norwich University marked the first win over a nationally ranked opponent for EC this season. Overall, the Soaring Eagles have faced five ranked opponents in 2013-14 and hold a 1-3-1 record in those games.
ECAC West Honors
Lisa Marshall '14 had a tremendous weekend between the pipes, recording 47 saves while allowing just two goals in the two games. Marshall's play in net earned her ECAC West Goaltender of the Week honors, the second time she has received this accolade this season.
Wilgosh is No. 3
Brooke Wilgosh '15 continues her stellar play from the blue line as she is EC's fourth leading scorer. The junior recorded two points against Hamilton College last Saturday, including scoring the game-winning goal, giving her 16 points on five goals and 11 assists. Wilgosh is averaging 1.14 points per game, placing her third in the country in defensemen scoring.
Lamoureux Inching Closer
After a two point weekend,
Tanis Lamoureux '14 now has 19 points on the season and 87 points in her career. Another 13 points will make Lamoureux the eighth player in EC history to reach the 100-point plateau and the first player since former standout Jenna McCall '10.
Go-Go Jo-Jo
It took a handful of games to get going, but
Johanna Eidensten '17 has really come on strong over the last five games, recording six of her eight points on the season. The newcomer scored a momentum-shifting goal against Norwich last weekend as her score with 0.7 left on the clock gave the Soaring Eagles a 2-0 lead heading into the third period.
Top-10 on Offense and Defense
The Soaring Eagles continue to boast one of the best offenses in the nation, ranking sixth behind 3.93 goals per game, but they also hold one of the best scoring defenses in the country as they rank seventh, allowing 1.64 goals per game. EC is one of four institutions in the nation to rank in the top 10 in both categories.
