Lamoureux and Ryan Tally Three Points Apiece in 5-0 Win Over Stevenson

The Elmira College women's ice hockey team (11-3-1) continued their winning ways tonight as the Soaring Eagles rolled against Stevenson University (5-11-1), defeating the Mustangs 5-0.  Tanis Lamoureux '14 tallied three points, upping her career total to 90.

Along with Lamoureux, Ashley Ryan '15 also had a standout game, recording three points on two goals and an assist.  Ryan's three points brings her career total to 81.  Cassidy Delainey '15 was another multiple point performer as she assisted on Elmira's third and fifth goals. Lisa Marshall '14 picked up her eighth win of the season and her third shutout of the year as she made 15 saves in net tonight. 

Elmira broke the game wide open in the first period, taking a 4-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of action.  Ryan opened the game by scoring back-to-back goals at the 2:21 and 5:27 marks of the first period.  Lamoureux and Lindsay Burrows '15 were credited with assists on the Ryan's first goal while her second score came unassisted. 

Then, at the 11:29 mark, Ashton Hogan '15 put the Soaring Eagles ahead 3-0 with Cassidy Delainey '15 earning the assist. Lamoureux would go on to score the final goal of the period with a little more than four minutes to play as Erin Weston '15 and Ryan picked up assists. 

The score remained at 4-0 until the third period when Katie Gaskin '14 scored her first goal of the season on a power play opportunity just two minutes into the period.  Delainey and Lamoureux picked up assists on Gaskin's goal as EC went on win it, 5-0.

Elmira will be back in action this Friday, January 24th when the Soaring Eagles take on Oswego State in ECAC West competition.  The puck is set to drop at 7:00 p.m. in Oswego, NY.
