Live Coverage Stats
Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's ice hockey team will look to ride the momentum from their win over No. 10 Oswego State as the Soaring Eagles travel tomorrow to take on Fredonia State in a non-conference game.  Game-time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Steele Hall in Fredonia, NY.

Not Since 2009
Elmira's 3-2 win over No. 10 Oswego State marks the first time the Soaring Eagles have defeated the Lakers since the 2009-10 season.  Entering Saturday night's game, Oswego had not lost a contest in 10 consecutive games, going 8-0-2 in those contests. Prior to Saturday night's victory, Elmira had dropped nine straight contests to Oswego with their most recent win coming in the 2009-10 home opener, a game that was also decided by a single goal.

Another Ranked Opponent, Another Win
The Soaring Eagles have hosted three nationally ranked teams this season and Elmira has won each of those three games.  On the season, Elmira is 3-2 against nationally ranked teams, their only losses coming to No. 5 Utica College and No. 10 Oswego State, both on the road.

Shinkaruk Does it Again
Carter Shinkaruk '16 scored just 28 seconds into the game against Oswego State, sparking Elmira's offense to score three straight goals.  It is the second time in three games Shinkaruk has scored a goal in the opening minute of a contest, the other opening minute goal occurring against No. 11 Geneseo State.

Strong First Period
EC found their scoring touch early against the Lakers, putting three goals on the scoreboard in the first period.  Elmira's three first period goals is the most they have scored in an opening period this season and it is the most since November 9, 2012 when EC scored three first period goals against SUNY Geneseo. The last time Elmira scored more than three goals in the first period dates back to October 29, 2010 when EC scored four goals against Morrisville State.

Outshot, No Problem
In Elmira's 3-2 win over Oswego, the Soaring Eagles were outshot by the Lakers, 44-26, a margin of 18.  It is the second time this season Elmira has been outshot but still won the game, the other win coming against SUNY Geneseo.  The last time Elmira was outshot by more than 18 and still managed to skate away with a victory dates back to the 2010-11 season  when EC topped Manhattanville, 2-1 after being outshot 43-23.

Power Play Unit Still in Good Shape
Once again, Elmira's power play unit proved to be a key factor in EC's 3-2 win over Oswego State as Greg Whittle '16 scored the game-winner on a power play chance.  As a team, Elmira ranks second in the country in power play efficiency, scoring on 32.5 percent of their chances.

In All But One Game
It's no surprise Elmira's power play unit has been great so far this season.  With the exception of Elmira's 3-0 loss to Buffalo State, the Soaring Eagles have scored at least one power play goal in every game.
