Oswego, NY --
The Elmira College women's ice hockey team (12-3-1, 7-0-0 ECAC West) picked up an important ECAC West win on the road tonight as they downed the Lakers of Oswego State (10-5-1, 6-2-1 ECAC West), 5-2.  Elmira scored goals in each of the three periods to seal their eighth road win of the season and to remain perfect in ECAC West play.

Katie Gaskin '14 recorded a career high four assists tonight, assisting on all but one of Elmira's goals.  Ella Stewart '14 also had a career night, scoring two goals, tying her career best.  Stewart also assisted on one other goal for three points, tying her previous career high that she set twice in the 2011-12 season.

Elmira netminder, Lisa Marshall '14, continued her stellar play between the pipes as she picked up her sixth straight win of the season.  Marshall made 24 saves tonight as she improved to 9-2-1 on the year.  In her last six starts, Marshall has only allowed four goals.

It only took 1:04 for Elmira to claim their first lead of the game as Cassidy Delainey '15 scored her eighth goal of the season.  Gaskin and Stewart picked up assists on the game's opening goal.   Then, about nine minutes later, Stewart scored her first of two goals on a power play opportunity to give Elmira a 2-0 lead.  Gaskin and Olivia Nyström '16 were credited with assists on Stewart's goal as the Soaring Eagles carried their two goal advantage into the first intermission.

Elmira's offensive pressure continued in the second period as Phoebe Piku '16 scored her first goal of the season on a great individual effort as her goal came unassisted at the 3:11 mark.  Her goal would hold-up as the game-winner, also a first for the second-year defenseman.  Piku's goal is her first since November 4, 2012 when she scored her first career goal against Cortland State.

Oswego cut Elmira's lead late in the second period on a goal by Kendall Appelbaum at the 18:16 mark.  The score would remain 3-1 entering the final intermission.

The Soaring Eagles wasted little time to regain their three goal cushion as Stewart netted her second goal of the night just one minute into the third period.  Similar to her first goal of the night, Gaskin and Nyström registered assists.

Forty-nine seconds later, the Lakers brought the score to 4-2 on a goal by Jocelyn St. Clair.  However, rookie forward Jessica Prance '17 would punch home her second goal of the season at the 3:45 mark to seal Elmira's 5-2 victory.  Anna Tude '17 and Gaskin recorded assists on Prance's goal.

The Purple and Gold will look for their second straight win over Oswego tomorrow.  The puck is set to drop at 3:00 p.m. at the Campus Center Ice Arena in Oswego, NY.
