Elmira, NY - The Elmira College women's ice hockey team returns to the ice this weekend for a pair of non-conference games. The Soaring Eagles will get a chance to avenge one of their three losses on Friday, January 10th when they host Norwich University at the Murray Athletic Center and then travel to Hamilton College the following day. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
Top-Five Offense
The Soaring Eagles have had little trouble scoring goals this season as the 4.17 goals scored per game places EC fifth amongst all NCAA Division III women's ice hockey programs.
Fifth in the Nation
Ashley Ryan '15 continues to rank as one of the best scorers in NCAA Division III Ice Hockey as her 1.83 points per game places her fifth in the country.
12th in the Nation
Tanis Lamoureux '14 joins Ryan on the top scorers list, tying for 12th in the country in points scored per game with 1.42. EC joins St. Scholastica as the only Division III programs with more than one player ranking in the top 12.
Top-20 in Handouts
Elmira is also one of two NCAA Division III schools to have at least three players in the top-20 nationally in assists per game. Ryan leads the way, ranking fifth with 1.17 assists per game, Lamoureux comes in 12th in the country with 0.92 assists per game and standout defenseman,
Brooke Wilgosh '15, ranks 20th with 0.83 assists per game.
Wilgosh Moves Up
Brooke Wilgosh '15 continues her stellar play from the blue line as she is EC's fourth leading scorer. The junior has 14 points on four goals and 10 assists and is averaging 1.17 points per game, good enough to rank second in all of NCAA Division III women's ice hockey in points per game from defensemen.
100-Point Watch
Tanis Lamoureux '14 has been a steady point producer for the Soaring Eagles throughout her four-year career and this season is no different. After picking up an assist on EC's first goal of the night against Middlebury, the captain has 17 points through the first 12 games this season and 85 points in her career. Another 15 points will make Lamoureux the eighth player in EC history to reach the 100-point plateau and the first player since former standout Jenna McCall '10.
