Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College field hockey team will host a pair of Empire 8 Conference games this weekend as the Soaring Eagles welcome Stevens Tech and Hartwick College to the Murray Athletic Center.  Elmira will face Stevens on Saturday, October 11th and Hartwick on Sunday, October 12th.  Both games will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Soaring Eagles are coming off a 3-0 defeat to Oswego State Wednesday afternoon. EC nearly matched the Lakers in total shots, with 10 compared to 11 for Oswego, but Elmira could not get any of their shots past Oswego's keeper as they were shutout on the afternoon.

A Look at the Ducks
The Ducks of Stevens Tech enter tomorrow's contest with a 5-8 overall record after falling to SUNY New Paltz at home, 4-2, on Wednesday. New Paltz took a 2-0 lead just over 20 minutes into the game, but Stevens would not go away quietly as Dailyn Brook '16 scored her ninth of the season to make it a 2-1 game. The Hawks answered with their third goal of the game, and after Victoria Alvarez '18 again made it a one-goal game, New Paltz sealed the victory with their final score with over seven minutes remaining.

A Look at the Hawks
The Hawks of Hartwick College enter this weekend of Empire 8 Conference play with a 2-9 overall record and 0-3 mark in conference games. Hartwick recorded non-conference wins over Morrisville State College and The College at Brockport, outscoring both the Mustangs and the Golden Eagles by a combined 8-1 score.

Series History vs. Stevens Tech
EC and Stevens Tech have played each year since 2006, the year that the Ducks joined the Empire 8 Conference as a field hockey-only member. The Soaring Eagles took the inaugural matchup between the programs, 4-2, in 2006, but Stevens has won each of the last seven games entering Saturday's matchup.

Series History vs. Hartwick
As conference opponents, Elmira and Hartwick are quite familiar with one another. The Soaring Eagles and the Hawks have played each year since the 2002 season, with Hartwick owning an 11-1 advantage in the series. EC shutout the Hawks, 2-0, in 2004, but Hartwick has proceeded to take each of the last nine meetings between the teams entering Sunday's matchup.

Looking Ahead
EC hits the road for a pair of games over the next week, one non-conference and one conference. Elmira takes on Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA on Tuesday, October 14th at 4:00 p.m. before traveling to Pittsford, NY to take on St. John Fisher College on Saturday, October 18th at 5:00 p.m.
