Pine Valley, NY -- The Elmira College field hockey team (1-10, 0-5 E8) fell to the Stevens Institute of Technology (6-8, 3-2 E8) 3-1 today. Alli Gilbert '16 led the Soaring Eagles with a goal in today's action.
 
The Ducks got off to a fast start and scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of play to lead the Purple and Gold, 3-0.  Mikayla Rebusmen '17 stopped nine shots in the first half for the EC women.
 
The Soaring Eagles shifted gears in the second half and went on the attack. After a couple of penalty corner opportunities, Alison Mariano '18 found the ball and passed it over to Gilbert who was able to punch it home to trail the Stevens, 3-1.  Elmira sent a few more shots at the Ducks' netminder but was unable to complete the comeback as the EC women fell, 3-1. Julie Hockenberger '18 entered the game in the second half for the Purple and Gold and made two saves.
 
Elmira will compete next tomorrow, October 12th when the Purple and Gold host Hartwick College at 1:00 p.m.
