Women's Soccer Falls to Nazareth

Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's soccer team fell to visiting Nazareth College, 3-0. Gabe Carmona '18 made 10 saves in the loss.

Play was very much back-and-forth early on in the first half, thanks in part to the steady drizzle saturating the field. Nazareth had a few early scoring chances, with three shots on goal in the first four minutes of play, but Carmona made each save to negate the threat.

From there, EC settled in, putting a couple of their own shots on target, but similar to Carmona, Nazareth's Allison Dobles made the necessary saves to keep the game scoreless. Overall, the Golden Flyers outshot the Soaring Eagles, 9-5, including 4-3 in shots on goal, but Carmona and Dobles combined for seven saves to force a 0-0 game at the half.

Nazareth pressed early and often in the second half, recording six shots in the first six minutes of the half, with the sixth shot putting the Golden Flyers ahead 1-0. EC would look to score the equalizer, but a turnover at the top of the 18-yard box led to Nazareth's second goal of the afternoon. Despite Elmira's efforts, they were unable to cut into the deficit. The Golden Flyers would add a late goal to seal EC's fate.

The Soaring Eagles return to action on Wednesday, October 8th when they hit the road to take on SUNY Geneseo. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
