Lamoureux Joins 100-Point Club in 6-0 Victory Over SUNY Cortland

Tanis Lamoureux '14 reached a career milestone scoring her 100th career point with 29 seconds remaining in the opening period, becoming the eighth player in EC history to do so. Her goal held up as the game-winner as the Elmira College women's ice hockey team (18-4-1, 13-1-0 ECAC West) shutout SUNY Cortland (2-19-2, 1-12-1 ECAC West) 6-0.

The Purple and Gold welcomed a balanced attack as 13 different players tallied points in the win with Ashley Ryan '15 leading all with two assists and one goal in today's victory. Kierra Pietramala '17 stopped 17 shots en route to her second win and her first career shutout in the win as well.

Both teams successfully killed off two penalties a piece in the first period and the Soaring Eagles put their first goal on the board when Ryan and McKenna Farole '16 put the puck on Lamoureux's stick to take the 1-0 lead with 29 seconds remaining in the first. Elmira held the shot advantage in the first period, 13-4.

After killing off two penalties, Elmira found the back of the net again after Brooke Wilgosh '15 sent the puck over to Ryan who slipped it past the Red Dragons' goaltender to up EC's lead to 2-0 with 6:46 left in the second. With 1:39 remaining, Cassidy Delainey '15 punched the puck past the Red Dragons' netminder off a pass from Ryan to increase the Purple and Gold's lead to 3-0. EC outshot Cortland 10-8 in the second period.

8:21 into the third period, Briana Saltstone '14 picked up a goal after some quality passes from Delainey and Ashton Hogan '15. Elmira then closed the game with back-to-back goals 2:32 seconds apart by Erin Weston '15 and Sydney Fischer '17 with assists credited to Ella Stewart '14, Lindsay Burrows '15, Johanna Eidensten '17 and Jessica Prance '17. The Soaring Eagles finished the third period with a 10-5 shot advantage and finished the game with a 33-17 advantage.  

The EC women will host Neumann University in a two-game series next Friday and Saturday, February 21st and 22nd, in the Soaring Eagles last home games of the regular season. The Puck is set to drop at 3:00 p.m. in both games.
