Elmira, NY -- The quest for a fourth NCAA Championship begins this Saturday, March 15th for the Elmira College women's ice hockey team as they travel to Northfield, VT to take on No. 2 nationally ranked Norwich University.  The puck is set to drop at 3:00 p.m. at Norwich's Kreitzberg Arena.

Oh Yeah, We're Dancing!
For the second consecutive year, the Elmira College women's ice hockey team has received an at-large bid into the NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Tournament.  This year's at-large selection is the third in program history and Elmira's 10th overall trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Going for Number Four
The Soaring Eagles boast three national championships in program history, tying them with Middlebury College for the most NCAA titles of any team in NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey.  If Elmira is able to run the gauntlet and capture their fourth national championship, they will be the fourth team in any division of women's ice hockey to win four or more NCAA Tournament titles - the other three being Division I institutions.

NCAA Quarterfinals
Entering Saturday's matchup against the Cadets of Norwich University, Elmira owns a 4-2 record in NCAA Quarterfinal games.  Of their previous six appearances, four have been played on the road, with Elmira going 2-2 in those games. EC's most recent NCAA Quarterfinal road win came during last year's title run when Elmira defeated Bowdoin, 4-0.

EC vs. Norwich in the NCAA's
Saturday's contest against Norwich marks the third meeting between the two teams in NCAA Tournament history.  The NCAA Tournament series is split as each team has won a game.  In 2008-09 Elmira defeated the Cadets 3-2 and in 2009-10, Norwich beat the Soaring Eagles by the same score, 3-2.

EC in the NCAA's
This year's appearance in the NCAA Tournament is Elmira's 10th in program history.  The Purple and Gold have played in a total of 20 NCAA Tournament games, going 14-6 in those contests.

Road Tested
At this point in the year, everyone has played a lot of games away from their home ice.  However, Elmira has played the majority of their season on the road, including 15 true road games and 18 total away from the Murray Athletic Center.  EC is 11-4 in true road games and 13-4-1 in all games away from their home ice.

Most in the Country
Elmira is one of four teams in the entire country to play 15 or more true road games.  New England College and St. Scholastica have each played in 15 true road games while Wisconsin-Superior has played in 17.  However, Elmira has played in the most games away from their home ice than any NCAA Division III women's ice hockey program, the closest being Wisconsin-Superior who has played 17.
