Williamsport, PA -- The Elmira College women's volleyball team had their hands full again today at the Lycoming College Invitational as the Soaring Eagles dropped a pair of matches to host Lycoming College and Susquehanna University.

Elmira College 1, Lycoming College 3 -- 25-12, 21-25, 26-24, 25-12After dropping the first set, Elmira responded by winning the second set, but not without some drama. The Soaring Eagles trailed 19-17 in the second but would piece together an 8-2 run, winning the set at 25-21. EC nearly pulled off another comeback in the third set after trailing 23-17 before rallying to win seven of the next eight points to tie things up at 24 apiece. However, Lycoming would win the next two points to take the set 26-24, and eventually the match as the Soaring Eagles fell to the tournament host, 3-1.
Ashley Heiman '16 recorded 11 kills, marking the second time this season she has posted double-digit kills.
Sami Hanes '16 chipped in with 28 assists while
Kierstin Derr '16 and
Amanda Blinkinsop '16 posted 14 digs apiece.

Elmira College 0, Susquehanna University 3 -- 25-8, 25-15, 25-19In Elmira's second match of the day, the Soaring Eagles faced another tough opponent in Susquehanna University, a team that entered today's contest with 11 wins on the young season. EC's offense struggled to find their rhythm, totaling just 13 kills as a team. Defensively, Elmira logged 31 digs as a team with

The Soaring Eagles will be back in action this Tuesday, September 16th when Elmira makes the short trip to Ithaca, NY to face the Bombers of Ithaca College in EC's Empire 8 Conference opening match. Match-time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m
