Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's soccer team will look to pick up their first Empire 8 Conference win of the season when they take the field Wednesday afternoon at Ithaca College. To do so, however, EC will have to pull the upset over the 19th ranked team in the nation as per the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Poll. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Ithaca, NY.Last Time OutEC opened their Empire 8 Conference campaign with a 0-0 double-overtime tie against Hartwick College. This is the second straight year that the Soaring Eagles and the Hawks played to a double-overtime tie, with 2013's matchup ending 3-3 after 110 minutes of play.
Stingy DefenseElmira's defense has really stepped up this season, allowing just four goals through the first six games of 2014. The four goals, which have been spread out over 580 minutes of play thanks to two overtime games, have resulted in a goals against average of 0.62. You have to go back to the 2004 season to find a GAA as low as that through the first six games of the season. The Soaring Eagles posted a GAA of 0.33, allowing just two goals in six games.

Gabe Carmona '18 against Hartwick, making eight saves to keep the Hawks off the scoreboard. Banner has started two games this season, against Hartwick and SUNY Potsdam, and has recorded two shutouts.
Series HistoryIthaca has controlled the recent history between the two programs, posting a 13-0-1 record since 2000. EC and Ithaca played to a 0-0 tie in the 2003 season, but the Bombers have won the 10 meetings since.
Last Time OutThe No. 19 nationally-ranked Bombers of Ithaca College enter Wednesday's Empire 8 matchup with a 5-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play after downing Alfred University, 6-1, on Saturday, September 20

King of the HillKelsey King is once again leading Ithaca offensively as the junior has tallied four goals and one assist through the season's first six games. She opened 2014 with a goal in each of Ithaca's first three games and added a goal and an assist against Alfred in the Bombers' Empire 8 opener. Additionally, King is near the top of the Empire 8 ranks, holding down a tie for third in both goals scored and points.
