Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's soccer team will put its 2-0 Empire 8 Conference record on the line this weekend when it heads to Hoboken, NJ, to duel the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, October 3rd, at 3:00 p.m. at the De Baun Athletic Complex.
Last Time OutJordyn Rousselle '18 provided the Soaring Eagles with a career performance, scoring twice with one assist to lead EC over Utica College, 3-1. The second-year midfielder opened the scoring in the seventh minute and then assisted on a goal from
Sara Kazerouni '18 in the 12th minute with a long through-ball. In the 58th minute, Rousselle ripped a high shot from outside the box over the head of the Utica goalkeeper to put EC up by three. Elmira goalie

Twice As NiceFor the first time since October 29, 2012, the Soaring Eagles won both E8 Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Awards. Rousselle was crowned on the offensive end after scoring a career-high seven points with a total of three goals and one assist in the wins over Fisher and Utica. Carmona recorded her second career clean sheet against the Pioneers and combined for 15 stops in her two starts.
Perfect StartThe Soaring Eagles have opened play inside the Empire 8 with a 2-0 record for the first time since the 2011 season. That year, EC beat Alfred University and Hartwick College by identical 2-1 scores. The 2011 campaign also marked the last time Elmira began league play with three straight wins, which the Purple and Gold can match with a "W" this weekend.
Road WarriorsAfter opening the Empire 8 portion of the schedule with consecutive games at Campus Field, EC will hit the road for four straight and six of the last eight regular season contests this season.
Series HistoryThe series between the Soaring Eagles and Ducks began when Stevens joined the Empire 8 in 2007. Stevens currently leads the series, 5-3. The Purple and Gold won last year's matchup, 3-1. In that game, Kazerouni scored a season-high two goals while Carmona turned in an eight-save performance, which resulted in E8 Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Scouting StevensThe Ducks are currently tied for second in the Empire 8 standings with a 1-0-1 record and a 6-2-1 overall mark. After opening E8 play with a 2-0 home win over Houghton College on September 19th, Stevens tied Ithaca College on the road, 1-1. Most recently, Stevens defeated Drew University, 4-0, at home to improve to 4-1 at the De Baun Athletic Complex. Freshman Zisi Komar and senior Carly Bean lead the offense with five goals each. Sophomore Lindsey Mahnken, who has started all nine games in goal, features a 1.04 goals-against average and 36 saves. Stevens has qualified for the E8 Tournament every season for the past eight years, falling to Nazareth in the semifinal round of last year's tournament.
