Starting netminder,
Kelcey Crawford '18, remained perfect on the year as she made 26 saves en route to her seventh win of the season.
Elmira scored the game's opening goal, and eventual game-winner, 7:18 into the first period as Delainey knocked-in her first of two power-play goals. The scoring play began with Wilgosh sending a pass from the point to Ryan in the right faceoff circle. From there, Ryan sent a pass to Delainey in the slot, where she one-timed a shot past the Buffalo State netminder for the score. Delainey's man-up goal would be the only one of the first period as EC took their 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Today's game remained at 1-0 for the majority of the second period, until Delainey scored her 13th power-play goal of the season at the 14:32 mark. Setting up the scoring play was Wilgosh, who after faking a shot from the point, carried the puck in the slot and fired a slap shot. The shot was initially saved, but found its way to Hogan in front of the net, where she poked it to Delainey, allowing her to score her second goal of the evening. Similar to her first goal, this one would also hold up through the period as EC carried their two-goal lead into the final period of regulation.
The Soaring Eagles extended their lead to three goals just 3:47 into the third period as Hogan scored her national-leading 26th goal of the season. Wilgosh created the scoring opportunity as her long pass from Elmira's defensive zone found Hogan in the neutral zone, allowing Hogan to beat the Buffalo State goalie over the left shoulder for the score. Delainey was also credited with an assist on the goal.
Just about 10 minutes later, Elmira increased their lead to 4-0 as Delainey scored her third and final goal of the evening. Delainey's goal was scored at point blank range as she collected a rebounded shot taken by Farole from the blue line.
25 seconds later, EC put the game completely out of reach as Ryan scored her 13th goal of the season, as she redirected a shot by Wilgosh into the back of the net for the score. Farole and Wilgosh were credited with assists on the goal.
The Elmira women continue their ECAC Wet Conference schedule this Friday, February 13th when the Soaring Eagles host first-year program William Smith College for a 7:00 p.m. showdown at the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena.
