Men’s Lacrosse Drops E8 Contest to Nazareth

Rochester, NY -- The Elmira College men's lacrosse team hit the road for an Empire 8 Conference bout with Nazareth College but would come out on the wrong end of a 26-3 decision, as the Soaring Eagles fell to 1-4 on the year and 0-2 in conference play.

Elmira opened the game by scoring the afternoon's first goal, thanks to Nevin Olney '18, who tallied his second goal of the season, unassisted, just 1:46 into the first quarter.  However, Nazareth would score three straight to take a 3-1 lead, an advantage they would hold for the majority of the period until Elmira's PJ Tessier '17 scored an unassisted goal with 2:45 on the clock, cutting the Golden Flyer lead to 3-2.

It looked as though Elmira was going to close out the first quarter with just a single-goal deficit, but with 18 seconds remaining in the quarter, Nazareth's Matt O'Neill would put the Golden Flyers ahead 4-2.  O'Neill's goal set the tone for the rest of today's game as his score would be the first of 12 unanswered goals, giving Nazareth a sizeable lead that would eventually turn into a 26-3 victory.

Elmira netminder Wyatt Katsos '17 got the start between the posts and would make 11 saves in just under 47 minutes of action.  Cameron Prior '17 came in for relief duty and would log a pair of saves.

The Soaring Eagles will be back in action this Tuesday, March 31st when Elmira hosts Oswego State for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game at Corning Community College Field.
