Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's lacrosse team (2-10, 1-7 E8) fell to Stevens Institute of Technology (9-6, 5-2 E8) 15-4 today.
Cameron Prior '17 set a new EC single-game record in saves with 38, surpassing the previous record of 35 set by Tom Depape '95 on May 8th, 1993.
The Purple and Gold found the scoreboard first with 8:25 left in the first quarter after
Carter Shinkaruk '16 found
Anthony LaRusso '17 who found the back of the net.
Eric Hallman '15 made it a 2-0 game after receiving the ball from
PJ Tessier '17 just 1:12 later. Stevens then responded with two goals to tie the game up at 2-2 with 1:49 left in the first quarter.
The Ducks then took control of the game as Stevens scored five goals in the second quarter and seven more in the third to take a 14-2 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
Stevens increased their lead to 15-2 with 12:51 left in the fourth quarter. EC then took advantage on two man-up opportunities to cut the Ducks' lead to 15-4 with 2:56 left in regulation time. Hallman and Tessier found the back of the net for Elmira. As the time expired in the fourth quarter, Stevens would claim the 15-4 win.
The Purple and Gold will compete next on April 25th when Elmira travels to Alfred State College for the Soaring Eagles' final game of the regular season.
