Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team (0-8, 0-5 E8) fell 15-7 to Nazareth College (8-2, 3-0 E8) today. Ashton Hogan '15 and Marissa Mongillo '15 led the Soaring Eagles with two goals and an assist apiece.
 
The Golden Flyers took a quick 2-0 lead just 27 seconds into the game. Hogan answered back after receiving the ball from Mongillo to score EC's first goal making it a 2-1 game. The Golden Flyers scored two more goals to take a 4-1 advantage. Then, 5:28 into the first period, Mongillo scored her first goal after getting a pass from Kara Yakel '16, however, the Nazareth responded 39 seconds later to take a 5-2 lead. Hogan scored her second goal of the game cut EC's deficit to 5-3 but Nazareth took control of the game with six unanswered goals to close the half with an 11-3 lead.
 
Nazareth scored the first goal of the second half just 1:48 into increase their lead to 12-3. Mongillo and Moorea Spoljaric '16 scored back-to-back goals to cut the Golden Flyers' lead to 12-5 with 17:47 left in the game. Nazareth responded with two of their own to take a 14-5 lead with 8:21 remaining. With 6:52 left in the second half, Hogan passed the ball over to Kelsey Quail '17 who scored EC's sixth goal of the game. Spoljaric took advantage of a man-up opportunity with 3:01 left to play to cut Nazareth's lead to 14-5, however, it would be the Golden Flyers who would score the last goal of the game to win, 15-7.
 
Lindsay Wargo '17 made 11 saves in the net for the Soaring Eagles today.

The Purple and Gold will compete next tomorrow, April 4th when the EC women host Alfred University at 1:00 p.m. at Ernie Davis Academy.
