Keuka Park, NY -- The Elmira College men's lacrosse team dropped its season opener against Keuka College, 13-3, on the road Saturday afternoon.
After the Wolfpack scored the first goal of the game, the Soaring Eagles responded with back-to-back goals 1:26 apart to take their only lead of the game at 2-1.
Nevin Olney '18 netted the tying goal at the 7:28 mark of the first quarter, followed by an unassisted tally from
TJ Leach '16 at 6:02.
From there, however, Keuka went on a six-goal run bridging the first, second, and third quarters to take a 7-2 lead.
Ollie Heitkamp '18 stopped the bleeding momentarily with an unassisted score, cutting the deficit to four goals, but Keuka's Tyler Skowronski scored four of the Wolfpack's five goals in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Turning PointThings were looking good for the Soaring Eagles' offense early in the first quarter. Following Keuka's first goal, Olney and Leach found the back of the net on consecutive possessions to give the Purple and Gold the lead. The Wolfpack would then go on to dominate time of possession for the remainder of the contest, out-shooting EC 36-to-13 in the final three quarters of play.
Inside the Box- Elmira received unassisted goals from Olney, Leach, and Heitkamp.

- Neither team was successful on the power play, as Elmira finished 0-for-5 and Keuka went 0-for-2.
- Elmira was assessed a pair of one-minute penalties, while the Wolfpack accumulated four penalty minutes on five infractions.
News and Notes- Elmira is now 0-1 while Keuka improves to 2-0 on the young season.
- EC is now 3-3 in its last six season openers, and 1-1 against Keuka in such games since 2011.
