Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College softball team looked to get back on track this afternoon when the Soaring Eagles hosted Lycoming College in a non-conference doubleheader. Unfortunately for EC, the Warriors of Lycoming would claim back-to-back wins to sweep the season series.

Elmira found itself in a 6-1 hole heading into the bottom of the seventh inning of game one, but the Soaring Eagles staged a late comeback, starting with a leadoff bunt single by Maddy Johnson '19. Katie Day '16 extended the inning with a hard hit ball to center field, putting runners on first and second.

EC's next batter, Katie McDougal '18, took the fourth pitch she saw and drove it to center field, scoring Johnson from second. Following an out, Chelsea Storch '17 bombed one off the left field fence, which drove in two runs to cut the Warrior lead to 6-4. Storch's one-out double forced a mound meeting by Lycoming.

Following the brief stoppage in play, Lycoming's starting pitcher Rachael Shady would get the next two Soaring Eagles to fly out to end the game, handing the Warriors a 6-4 victory.

Game two was all Lycoming, as the Warriors scored 12 runs on 15 hits, which all but sealed Elmira's 11th loss of the season, a 12-1 setback in a six inning shortened game.
