Women’s Soccer Clashes with University of Pittsburgh at Bradford

Elmira N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's soccer team travels to Bradford, Pennsylvania, for a non-conference clash with the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Wednesday, September 21st, at 4:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: The Soaring Eagles lost a home match against a tough SUNY Potsdam University team, 5-1. The Bears have gotten off to a hot start to the season, winning six of their first seven games. EC goalkeeper Amanda Banner '17 had a busy game, making 12 saves in 90 minutes of action. Banner made five of her 12 saves in the second half, only allowing one goal in the period. The lone goal for the Purple and Gold was netted by Jordyn Rousselle '18, her first of the season, assisted by Niki Lemper '17, her first point of the season.   

BANNER IMPRESSES: Elmira has had to lean on Banner for strong goalkeeping play to help keep them in games. Banner has played a little over 440 minutes so far this season, ranking fifth in the Empire 8 Conference. Banner has 44 saves on the season, a mark that leads the E8.

SCOUTING PITT-BRADFORD: The Panthers' record currently sits at 2-3-1, after they lost their last two matches, the second being a 3-2 double-overtime loss at home against Allegheny College. The Pitt-Bradford women are led by goalkeeper Sarah Dailey, who is third in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in saves (47) and fourth in save percentage (.825). The Panthers' are led offensively by Meghan Stuck, who has two goals on the season. Stuck is trailed by four teammates, each tied with one goal apiece. This will be the Bradford women's second home game of the season after playing their first five on the road.  

ALL-TIME SERIES: This matchup marks the fourth time that these programs will faceoff, with the most recent contest resulting in a 2-1 loss for the Soaring Eagles in the 2012 season opener. The Soaring Eagles trail in the all-time series 1-2. Elmira's lone win in the series came in the 2007 season, a 6-1 victory at Campus Field.

LOOKING AHEAD: After the matchup with the Panthers, EC will face a struggling Utica College team, whose record currently sits at 0-7. This Empire 8 Conference matchup will take place on Saturday, September 24th, at 6:00 p.m. at UC's Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
