- This weekend's set of games against Cortland is the first of three ECAC West home-and-home series for the Soaring Eagles (Cortland, William Smith, Utica).
- Elmira returns to the MAC on Saturday for the first time in over a month.
FONFARA'S BIG DAY
- In Elmira's most recent game, a 5-3 loss to nationally-ranked Adrian, Meghan Fonfara '18 had one of her best performances of the season.
- Fonfara had a hand in each of Elmira's three goals against the Bulldogs. She scored EC's first and third goals of the contest, and assisted on the team's second tally.
- The three-point performance was her third multi-point game of the year, while it also marked the seventh time in her career she has finished with two or more points.
- Fonfara's three points also tied her previous single-game career high, a mark she has hit three times during her career.
- With two goals against the Red Dragons, Fonfara snapped her six-game streak of games without a tally. It also went down as her second multi-goal game of the season and the sixth of her EC career.
CORTLAND AT A GLANCE
- The 2016-17 season has been a challenging one to say the least for SUNY Cortland, as the Red Dragons enter the weekend series with a 1-10-0 record.
- Cortland dropped its first seven games of the season, three of which were decided by a single goal, before picking up its first win of the year over Post University, 10-0.
- Rookie Miranda Kolb and senior Sydney Carlucci own a share of the team lead in points with eight apiece.
- Kolb is Cortland's leading goal scorer with five tallies, two of which have been scored on the power play. She is tied for the team lead in power-play goals with Olivia Monzel, who also has two extra-skater goals.
- Carlucci has had a more balanced effort on offense with four goals, second-most on the team, and four assists. The four helpers are tied for the team high with blueliners Richelle Skarbowski and Charlie Calamari.
- Rachael Farmer has seen the most time between the pipes for the Red Dragons this season. Although she has yet to earn a win in her rookie debut (0-6-0) she does lead Cortland in saves (155) and goals-against average (3.39).
