ELMIRA, N.Y. --
The fifth-ranked Elmira College women's ice hockey team resumes its ECAC West Conference schedule with a home-and-home series with the Herons of William Smith College. Elmira welcomes William Smith to the Murray Athletic Center on Friday, January 20th, for a 7:00 p.m. league contest, before heading to Geneva, New York, the following afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. bout.

WEEKEND OVERVIEW
  • The fifth-ranked Soaring Eagles are riding high on a three-game win streak, which includes a 6-1 win over Williams last time out, as Elmira battles William Smith College in ECAC West action.
  • With an 8-0-0 conference record, the Soaring Eagles sit atop the ECAC West standings, while the Herons' 1-6-1 league mark has them standing alone in eighth.
  • This weekend's home-and-home series against William Smith will mark the fifth and sixth all-time meetings between the two programs.
  • This weekend's set of games against William Smith is the second of three ECAC West home-and-home series for the Soaring Eagles (Cortland, William Smith, Utica).
  • Elmira is unbeaten on its home ice this season (4-0-1), while all four of William Smith's victories during the 2016-17 season have come in road contests.

HATS OFF TO EVANGELOUS
  • Maddie Evangelous '19 was one of two players to finish with three points in Elmira's 6-1 road win over Williams. Katie Granato '19 also logged three points against the Ephs.
  • Evangelous scored three goals against the Ephs, one in the first period and two in the second stanza, to register her first career hat trick.
  • The three-goal effort by Evangelous was the first hat trick by a Soaring Eagle since Meghan Fonfara '18 scored thrice against SUNY Cortland on November 13, 2015.
  • Evangelous' three tallies helped the second-year forward claim the team lead in points (18) and share the team lead in goals (8) with Granato.
  • Half of Evangelous' points have come in Elmira's last four games. She has logged five goals and four assists for nine points in those four contests (2.25 ppg).
