ELMIRA, N.Y. --
The Elmira College women's soccer team came up short in its final non-conference match of the season, as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 4-1 decision to Marywood University on a wet and rainy day at Campus Field. Senior forward Sara Kazerouni '18 scored Elmira's lone goal of the contest, her second of the season, in the 86th minute of regulation.

Marywood held a 26-to-15 lead in shots, as well as a 15-to-4 advantage in shots on goal. Corner kick opportunities also finished in favor of the Pacers, but by a much smaller margin at 3-1.

The Pacers took a 2-0 lead in the first half behind goals from Aly Barlok and Julie Youngman in the eighth and 31st minutes of action. Barlok's goal came on a strike from nearly 25 yards out that skidded off the wet grass and past EC netminder Rachel Grampp '18. Youngman's goal came with a bit of luck, as an Elmira defender lost the ball in EC's defensive third after slipping and falling to the grass. From there, Youngman took a pair of touches before passing the ball into the right-side netting for the score.

Although Marywood held a 2-0 halftime lead, Elmira had several quality scoring chances throughout the first 45 minutes. The Soaring Eagles attacked the flanks quite often, setting up several one-on-one chances with Marywood netmidner Aly Moyer. Unfortunately, the Elmira attackers were unable to capitalize on any of those opportunities.

Marywood doubled its lead in the second half with goals by Jackie VonItter and Grace Feeser in the 47th and 75th minutes, respectively. Emily Kotcho set up the VonItter goal with a nice deep cross into the box that allowed VonItter to power a header in for the score. Feeser scored a classic poacher's goal by following up a rebound by Youngman.

With the contest drawing to a close, Kazerouni put her name in the scorebook with her second tally of the season. In the 86th minute, fellow senior Jordyn Rousselle '18 fired a shot that looked like it was going to drop into the goal, but her attempt rattled off the crossbar. Thankfully, Kazerouni was in position to follow up on the rebound and bury the shot for the score.

Kazerouni's tally cut the Marywood lead to three, but this was as close as Elmira would get, as the Pacers held on down the stretch to clinch their seventh win of the season by a 4-1 final score.

EC's Grampp ended the contest with 11 saves, her fourth double-digit save outing of the season. The 11 saves are the most by Grampp since making 18 stop on September 16 against SUNY Potsdam. Moyer finished with two saves and no goals allowed for Marywood, while Bella DiToma came in for relief duty and made one stop with one goal allowed.
