Women's Volleyball Erases Two-Set Deficit to Beat SUNY Canton in Five

CANTON, N.Y. -- Being down two sets to zero, the Elmira College women's volleyball team gutted its way to a five-set victory [20-25, 17-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-9] over SUNY Canton in the first match of the Roos Classic on Saturday evening in Canton, New York.

Despite dropping the first two sets, the Soaring Eagles still outhit Canton, .161-to-.116. EC's differentiating factor in the contest was their ability to generate digs. In the five sets, Elmira owned a 112-to-87 advantage in digs over the Kangaroos.

Individually, Natalie Schieder '19 performed well on both sides of the court, as she tallied a match-high 27 kills, in addition to 15 digs. The product of Alden, New York, now has a team-leading 12 double-doubles. Schieder's classmate Taylor Kaznowski '19 also posted a double-double, as she finished the contest with a match-high 41 assists to go along with 13 digs.

On the defensive side of the court, Rachel Katzenberger '19, Tiara John '19 and Kasey Campbell '19 all shined in tonight's match. Katzenberger led all players with a career-high 25 digs. John was not far behind, as she posted a career-high 22 digs. Campbell rounded out Elmira's 20-dig performers with her 20 digs.

Freshman Savannah Terry '21 also helped on the defensive end of the court. The 5-foot-10-inch middle blocker from Owego, New York, tallied a season-high four blocks. Terry recorded three solo blocks to go along with one assisted block.
