ALFRED, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's lacrosse team had no answers for the attack of Alfred University, as it fell today by a 21-1 final score in Empire 8 Conference play on Saturday afternoon in Alfred, New York.
The offensive onslaught started early, as the Saxons' Jake Lynch scored the first of his game-high six goals nine seconds into the game. Alfred added seven more tallies in the opening quarter to storm out to an 8-0 advantage.
Nevin Olney '18 put the Soaring Eagles on the board at the start of the second quarter with an unassisted strike at the 12:58 mark.
Unfortunately for EC, the Olney tally stood as the team's only goal of the contest. The Saxons scored 13 unanswered goals to grow their lead to a commanding 20-point margin, 21-1. With a large disparity in almost every statistical category, Elmira was unable to keep the conference contest close.
Turning Point
From the opening whistle, the Saxons jumped all over the Soaring Eagles, taking an 8-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and growing the lead as high as 20 by the end of the game. Alfred was able to take such a big advantage by finishing with a 64-to-18 lead in shots in the contest. Elmira struggled to gain possession of the ball, which allowed the home team to take the advantage and keep it for the entire matchup.
