ELMIRA, N.Y. -- After an almost seven-week break from Untied Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) play, the Elmira College men's ice hockey team returns to league action with bouts against Manhattanville College and King's College. The Soaring Eagles begin their road trip with a tilt against the Valiants on Friday, January 19, at the Playland Ice Casino in Rye, New York, before concluding it with a clash against the Monarchs the following day. Both contests are slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
EC bested the No. 15/15-ranked Buffalo State Bengals by a 3-2 final score in the second game of the home-and-home series on Saturday, January 13, at the Murray Athletic Center. The Purple and Gold received a fantastic performance from sophomore forward Connor Powell '20, who scored two of the team's three goals. Fellow sophomore, Spencer MacLean '20, netted the game-winner at the 12:31 mark of the third period with a rebound shot off of Buffalo State's starting goalie Ian Sylves. First-year goalie Jake Sabourin '21 had 18 saves in the game, earning his third win of the season.

SERIES HISTORIES
The Soaring Eagles and Valiants will meet for the 58th time on Friday. Elmira currently trails in the series at 25-26-6 following a 5-3 loss to Manhattanville back on November 3 at the MAC. An exciting 7-4 victory over the Monarchs gave the Soaring Eagles both a season and all-time series record of 1-0-0 against the first-year program.

SCOUTING MANHATTANVILLE
Since picking up their first win of the season against the Soaring Eagles in November, the Valiants now have an overall record of 8-6-3 (4-3-0 UCHC). Recent highlights include a tie with nationally-ranked Hobart, 3-3, and besting Oswego State, 4-1, in the Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic. Despite losing their last two games on the road, Manhattanville remains ranked second in the UCHC in both scoring offense and scoring defense. Offensively, junior forward Matt Lippa leads the team with 18 points on nine goals and nine assists on the season. On the defensive end of the ice, freshman defenseman Ryan Jackson is third in the conference for defensive scoring with 14 points on five goals and nine assists. In the net, junior Tyler Feaver ranks second in the league in goals against average (2.11) and boasts a .926 save percentage that ranks third in the UCHC.

SCOUTING KING'S
The first-year program is still searching for its first win of the season after losing three of their last four games by just one goal, including a 2-3 overtime battle with Western New England University on January 9. Monarchs freshman forward Isaac Cirinna is ranked first overrall in short-handed goals (2). Junior defenseman and team captain Nicholas Palumbo ranks third in the conference for defenseman scoring with eight points (4g-4a). The last meeting between King's and Elmira saw two goals scored by Monarchs freshman forward Anthony Frati, who leads the team in goals scored with six on the year. Both Cirinna and Frati are tied at eighth in freshman scoring in the UCHC (7p).

LOOKING FORWARD
Following this weekend on the road, Elmira will return to the Murray Athletic Center for a four-game homestand. The action begins with a matchup against Nazareth College on Friday, January 26, with the opening face-off starting at 7:00 p.m.
