ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The No. 3/3-ranked Elmira College women's ice hockey team continues United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) play with a pair of road bouts against Lebanon Valley College on Saturday and Sunday, January 28-29. The two-game set begins on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. with the Dutchmen Outdoor Classic, which will be played outdoors at the Hersheypark Stadium, before concluding the following afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Hersheypark Arena.

LAST TIME OUT
The Soaring Eagles earned a 5-0 victory over Trinity College (Conn.) on Tuesday in EC's final non-conference tilt of the season. Elmira started the contest clicking on offense, as they scored twice in the first seven minutes. It was a balanced offensive performance for the Purple and Gold, as five different skaters tallied a goal. Of Elmira's point producers, Maddie Evangelous '19 (1g-1a), Meghan Fonfara '18 (1g-1a), Sarah Hughson '18 (1g-1a) and Katie Granato '19 (2a) all paced the team with two points apiece. Kelcey Crawford '18 made 19 saves in the complete-game effort to earn her fifth shutout of the season.

DYNAMIC DUO
The pair of Granato and Hughson has proved to be one of the most lethal tandems in all of Division III. The duo paces the Soaring Eagles with the identical number of points (27) and goals (16) this season. Nationally, both are tied for fifth in the country in goals (0.94) and tied for eighth in points per game (1.59). After going on a three-game scoreless streak between December 10 and January 8, Hughson broke out of her slump in a big way, as she has tallied five goals over EC's last four games. Granato, on the other hand, has been just as effective, as she has recorded seven points on three goals and four assists over the same span. Getting this production from its two most lethal scorers will be critical for Elmira as it heads into the UCHC tournament and beyond.

SCOUTING LEBANON VALLEY
Winless in their last 10 games, the Dutchmen enter the weekend looking for their first victory since Saturday, November 18. These struggles have resulted in a 2-11-2 overall record and a 1-6-1 mark in the UCHC. The reason for this recent skid becomes clear when you realize that LVC has scored just once over its last 10 contests. Leading Lebanon Valley's offense is senior forward Nikki Lloyd, who has recorded team highs in points (6) and goals (5). The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, native has scored a combined three goals in the Dutchmen's two wins. Chloe Glass has been the team's best passer, as the rookie from Bloomingdale, New Jersey, leads the team with five assists. In between the pipes, Jillian Moffat has been busy, as she paces the UCHC in saves with 741, more than 300 more than the next closest backstop.

LOOKING AHEAD
The third-ranked Soaring Eagles will challenge the Herons of William Smith College to a home-and-home series next weekend. The two-game set will begin with a 3:00 p.m. tilt at the Murray Athletic Center on Saturday, February 3, and will conclude the following afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the Geneva Recreation Complex Skating Rink in Geneva, New York.
