ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's basketball team continues Empire 8 Conference play with a 4:00 p.m. tilt against The Sage Colleges on Saturday, February 3, at the Murray Athletic Center as part of the 36th Annual Athletics Alumni Weekend. Tip-off for the conference bout is slated for 4:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Elmira tallied its third Empire 8 Conference win on Saturday with series sweep of Alfred University on the road, 69-53. The Soaring Eagles have now swept the Saxons in six consecutive seasons, and recorded season-highs in total rebounds (60), field-goal percentage (41.9), and blocks (8) in the win. A 12-point lead at the half (41-29), along with double-digit performances from
Danielle Cleary '18 (20),
Emily Green '18 (11), and
Sally Hogan '19 (13). Green went a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range in the second quarter, and Cleary made a game-high four 3-point shots. Hogan had a quiet first half with four points, but added nine more after the intermission, scoring five-straight in the fourth quarter to assist in securing Elmira's lead.Â

CLEARY'S CONSISTENCY
After Saturday's win, Cleary has now put up double-digit scoring figures in 14 of the Soaring Eagles' 18 games so far this season, including the last four matchups. The Rochester, New York, native leads the team in scoring and is averaging 14.8 points per game. Her 20-point performance against the Saxons marked the fifth time this season she had scored 20-or-more in a game. On top of being a consistent scorer overall for Elmira, Cleary has also been a consistent free-throw shooter with a season free-throw percentage of 71.4, which ranks third on the team. Eighteen games into her senior season, Cleary has tied the all-time record for most made free-throws in program history, held by former All-American Jessica Zoltowski '14 (366).
SERIES HISTORY
The Soaring Eagles and Gators have faced off 11 times since the 1990-91 campaign. Elmira is now 10-1 after falling to Sage for the first time earlier this season (63-54) on January 6, at the Kahl Gymnasium. Prior to Sage joining the Empire 8 Conference for the 2017-18 season, Elmira had previously won all but one game by double-figures, with the two teams last meeting on January 2, 2013, when Elmira topped Sage by a 67-59 score on the road. This will be the first time the two teams meet on the Soaring Eagles' home court since November 27, 2012, when Elmira tallied a 65-53 win over Sage.

SCOUTING SAGE
The Gators of The Sage Colleges have found success thus far as newcomers to the Empire 8 Conference, heading into Saturday's game with a 7-3 record in league play (13-6 overall). The Gators' offense has been efficient this season, as they have scored 82 points on two separate occasions, which is tied with the Soaring Eagles for most points in a single game this season. Sage's offense leads the E8 in points per game (64.7) and assists per game (14.4). Sage has also tied Utica for most field goals made in a single game (31) and tied Elmira for most rebounds in a game (60). Senior forward Genevieve Schoff is second in the E8 in field-goal percentage (44.9) and is third in both points per game (15.6) and blocked shots per game (1.3). Junior guard Emily Parslow leads all qualified players in the Empire 8 in both 3-point shots made per game (2.9) and 3-point shooting percentage (33.7).Â
