PINE VALLEY, N.Y. --
The No. 39 nationally-ranked Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology swept the Elmira College men's tennis team for a 9-0 Empire 8 Conference victory on Saturday morning at the Murray Athletic Center.

After opening their Empire 8 schedule with back-to-back wins over Utica College and The Sage Colleges, the loss to Stevens marked the fourth consecutive league loss of the spring season for the EC men. It was the first match of the year for the Soaring Eagles against a regionally- or nationally-ranked opponent, too.

Of the three doubles matches, Elmira's top duo of Patrick Tracey '18 and Stephen Gervase '20 put up the toughest fight of the morning but dropped the match to Stevens' Bryan Szayna and Danny Polk, 8-2. Tracey was then beaten for the first time as a senior in singles play, as Polk won 12 of 15 possible games for a 6-2, 6-1, triumph. After earning a singles win on the road last night against Alfred University, the Bardonia, New York, native moved to 8-1 on the season at the top spot in the lineup.

Yaniv Kogan '18 (6-1, 6-0) and Gervase (6-2, 6-0) each managed to take a game from the Ducks in the opening set, but were set down in straight sets.
