ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Despite a barrage of offense by Hartwick College, the Elmira College field hockey team limited the Hawks to a single goal in a 1-0 Empire 8 Conference loss on Saturday afternoon.
Hartwick (8-4, 2-1 E8), an E8 semifinalist last fall, registered 24 shots and 15 penalty corners, but Elmira (5-6, 0-3 E8) goalkeeper
Tina O'Donnell '20 logged 14 saves to keep the deficit at one.
During the second quarter, O'Donnell made five saves in the first six-plus minutes to preserve a scoreless draw. After making three more saves in the quarter, the fourth-year netminder attempted to clear a long pass into the arc by kicking the ball out, but Hartwick's Sydney Gagnon was there to collect the rebound off of O'Donnell's leg pads for the game's only score.
On the other end of the turf, the EC offense was unable to put a shot on target.
