Brandi Meeder '22 was a double-winner this afternoon against NCAA Division II affiliate Daemen College, but Elmira College women's tennis was unable to secure a team victory, as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 7-2 non-conference decision at the Murray Athletic Center.
Meeder began her day by teaming up with junior
Marta Kliszcz '20 for an 8-2 doubles win at the No. 3 position. For Meeder and Kliszcz, it was their second win as a doubles team this season.
Outside of the No. 3 position, Daemen picked up a pair of 8-1 victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to take a 2-1 lead into the singles portion of today's match.
The Wildcats earned straight-set wins at all but one spot, as Meeder cruised to a convincing straight-set victory at the fifth position. Meeder downed Daemen's Ailish McDevitt, 6-1, 6-0, to secure the second singles win of her rookie season.
Other close matches on the day took place at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions. At the four spot,
Cheyanne Holwell '19 came up just short in a tight battle to Daemen's Alliya Foster, 6-2, 6-4. At the six spot, Kliszcz was edged by Andrea D'Sa, 6-2, 6-3.
